The history of pioneering is the history of those who embody an idea, a cause, a field, and have fought without stopping to carry on that ideal or to popularize the developed field. ROMCONTROL tells the story of the Romanian pioneer in the inspection and the qualitative and quantitative control of the goods. With a tradition of nearly 69 years, ROMCONTROL is the first Romanian company specialized in qualitative and quantitative inspection, not only the one that laid the foundations of this field, but also the one that constantly invested in its development, becoming the market leader on the segment qualitative and quantitative inspection.
The ROMCONTROL story begins in 1953 with the establishment of the Commodity Control Office (OCM), subordinated to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, the only Romanian body specialized in the control of goods. 34 years later, in 1987 the body changed its name to OCM ROMCONTROL and holds the monopoly of this activity until December 1989. After 1990, a new chapter is written in the history of ROMCONTROL. Privatized in 1990 as a joint stock company with Romanian capital, ROMCONTROL is registered with the Trade Registry on January 10, 1991. The company is expanding its portfolio with property valuations, technical expertise, quality certification according to ISO standards, securitization of credits banking and not only. Also, considerable investments are made in the development of human resources (through training and training programs), the development of a proprietary IT system, the expansion of the branch network, the building and endowment of a network of laboratories, the accreditation of laboratories and in concluding collaboration agreements with other inspection companies in the world for the provision of reciprocal services.
Visible development, both internally and externally, brings the first international recognition: in 1995 ROMCONTROL becomes the sole representative in Romania of Underwriters Laboratories USA (UL) for inspection of products manufactured under the UL brand for USA and Canada and certification of the system quality under the UL brand. ROMCONTROL currently provides qualitative and quantitative inspection services for many fields of activity (agriculture, petroleum products, petrochemicals and chemistry, etc.) and has a national network of 20 agencies and 3 laboratories in the main cities of the country . ROMCONTROL means a team of over 200 specialists, people dedicated to the activity they carry out and ready to provide accurate information on the quality and quantity of goods and products.
